What great countries these two were! I've spent two and half months in Colombia and Venezuela combined, and I could have easily spend much more. I've done total of 3455 miles from day I entered Colombia in Cartagena, until exiting Colombia in Ipiales a week ago. Looking back, I wish I didn't spend as much time in Central America as I did. Though, most of "extra time" spent there was recovering from neck injury. Apparently, Colombia and Venezuela have most microclimates in the world. I could definitely feel that on the motorcycle. One moment I would ride in perfect, sunny conditions, and half an hour later I would be in the cloud, wet and freezing my ass off. Riding through Venezuelan Andes was the first time on this trip using my winter riding gear and I was still shivering on the bike. At one point I was at over 4000 meters altitude and bike was struggling a bit too. It kept dying on idle because air/gas mixture was off. Opening air filter box lid helped a little. So many great rides through mountains, desserts, jungles, flats, dunes, beaches, cities, villages… Hot, cold, wet, cloudy, cold, hot… There was everything! Really enjoyed riding through these two countries. Aside from great rides and beautiful, diverse scenery, people in both countries left great impression on me. Very friendly and welcoming. Will visit again for sure.
